so this happened today.
my office is in a very low-income part of town, one of the areas that’s being targeted for gang reduction. but the community is very active in local revitalization and beautification efforts, including a mural on our street painted by local neighborhood children. the mural includes this picture of a young black boy. and this morning, we found someone had tagged it in sharpie to say ‘nigger.’
it made me feel like the forces we are up against are enormous and powerful. and sickening. :(
